MBTA shutdown turns strangers into teammates

In pre-shutdown days, my fellow passengers and I rode silently, plugged into electronics, oblivious to each other. But the shutdown changed all that. Suddenly, and somehow, the bubble burst. Thrust from the subway cars to the shuttle buses in Kenmore Square, no one is an island now. To survive, we have had to rely on each other. We are in this together. We are a “we.”
